The Real Second Coming vs The Lie of  that “Sort”.

2 Timothy 2:14-26 and 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 records for all to see
and read, also hear if the fundamentalists in control of the SBC
would exegetically preach it without the bad hermeneutics of a
divided Bible.  We could continue this background history indefinitely
on “he said” and “they said”, and in fact so the warfare goes on
today online and in books between the fundamentalists and other
southern Baptist; but this would not get us further into the main
series under development, “Baptist Distinctives”, “Itching Ears
Theology” as part of the great apostasy called the Falling Away, or
of “Gospel Pride, the One Baptism of the book of Romans”.  The
objective is best achieved by a positive exegesis of II Timothy 2:14-
26 and 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 where the Word of God and through
the Apostle Paul in particular dealt with what is called a “secret
rapture” today.  Of course, we always give up ground to the BBFers
when we use words like “rapture”, “millennium”, and “dispensation”
that they have strived throughout the Scofield Bible Notes to add to
the Bible.  This much we will come into their little world of
eschatology started by Darby, Scofield, and which found a nest in
Dallas, to temporarily admit that those words exist in theology, not in
Bible; but the words of the two passages above are respectively
“who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection
is already past, and they overthrow the faith of some”  (II Timothy 2:
18) and “Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ, and our gathering to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken
in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from
us, as though the day of Christ had come”  (II Thessalonians 2:1,2).
The same thing could be stated with a simple quote from a wise and
experienced pilgrim on the Christian life, “Share your convictions, I
have enough doubts of my own.”
2-1:  Even as you have noted that no heresy has arisen like the
secret rapture of 1830, Mormonism, Catholicism,
Mohammedanism, and Messianic Judaism not already dealt with
in the Bible by Jesus and the Apostles, definitive and sufficiently
except that required by Jude in the “defence of the faith once
give to the saints”, so just a straight forward exegesis of the
these three verses above from II Timothy and II Thessalonians
alone, and without the total context, which we will also do an
exegesis on, should put to sleep any talk about a secret rapture.
1.  Immediately before looking at the “resurrection past” {you notice
first century Christians in some cases also thought it was secret and
they had missed it}, and before looking at “Jesus’ coming and our
gathering”--notice we are using the words from the Bible, we should
consider first a denial of the heresy of Scofield and adherents that
some Bible is given to the Jews and some to Christians, whereby
they quite often escape into what they want to believe as not written
to Christians.  Well, II Timothy 2:14-26, as with the whole book of II
Timothy, and II Thessalonians 2:1-12, also as with the whole book of
II Thessalonians was also written to Christians and the church.     \
a.  II Timothy 1:1,2:  “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of
God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus; to
Timothy, a beloved son.”
Timothy was a Gentile, and an adopted son of the Apostle Paul in
the faith (verse 2), as well as in verse 1, for Christians is obviously
the intent of Paul in the address “according to the promise of life
which is in Christ Jesus”.  To momentarily come down to the level of
fundamentalists, and without striving to impress people academically
with Greek--the version does not matter as the Bible always
communicates in high fidelity--”life in Christ Jesus” is both for Jews
and Christians, so that you can not in all intellectual honesty break
down the Bible into two hypothetical parts in this passage.
b.  II Thessalonians 1:1b:  “To the church of the Thessalonias in God
our Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ.”
2.  In the “past resurrection” of II Timothy, some early church
members and Christians had been deceived by two early academic
and amateur theologians, Hymenaeus {predecessor of Darby} and
Philetus {predecessor of Scofield}, trying to teach the church body
that the resurrection had already passed, and furthermore
“overthrowing the faith of some” by telling this bewildered church
members that they had missed it.  How in the world it had sneaked
past the early churches less than a century after Jesus told them He
would come again is difficult to fathom--the only answer could be
from H and P was that it was “SECRET”, only available to a certain
select group of H&P fundamentalists.  The really bad part is that
Paul was still around, and he missed this resurrection also!
3.  In II Thessalonians 2:1,2 after first defining the “day of the Lord”
for fundamentalists as the simultaneous in one day (1) “coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ” and (2) “our gathering to Him” {you see these
are the actual words of the Bible, and you see nothing here about the
favorite “rapture” word of the fundamentalists, such braggarts about
their literalism need to get on the Bible wagon}, then he reassures
the church, and through all Christendom through the Bible as the
Word of God, that a secret rapture, or more properly a secret
coming of the Lord Jesus Christ had not happened, nor a secret
“gathering to Him.”
NOTE:  Fundamentalists, show a little gumption on the Bible, a
little literalism, and like the Apostle Paul said about not only
sound doctrine but sound Bible words {II Timothy 1:13}; and
with even more literalism and courage preach and teach
exegetically from II Timothy 2 and II Thessalonians 2.
2-2:  Instead as Stewart of Union Oil company in
“Fundamentals” and our beloved Texas preacher of the gospel,
John R Rice, they take verses like II Timothy 2:15 completely out
of context--”rightly dividing the word of truth”, saying it proves a
two Bible approach to the Bible that has to be divided between
the Jew and Christian; and then “going everywhere preaching”,
they develop a misguided hermeneutics of two Bibles that can
no where in the Bible be justified or proven.
NOTE:  What good hermeneutics, blessed and honored by God
and the Spirit do, is use the simple guidelines the Bible itself
establishes for understanding like (1) compare scripture with
scripture; (2) read the meaning out of the Bible rather than strive
to force meaning and a historical philosophy on it; (3) allow the
OT quotes in the NT with explanations and interpretations to
guide your hermeneutics; and (4) use the ASPI version of the
Bible from Peter in II Peter 1:20,21 as you method of
2-3:  What Paul is really telling Timothy, and all of us, in II
Timothy 2:15 is:  (1)  rightly use the ASPI from Peter to properly
divide out the doctrines of the Bible: and (2) be careful of your
teaching and preaching so that (a) you do not get “entangled” in
so many words that do not profit your hears, and (b) don’t ruin
or overthrow the faith of some with extra-biblical revelations,
theology, and philosophies.
“Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord
not to strive about words to no profit {they are just theological
and academic words that are not prophesy in the nature of I
Corinthians 14 that edifies, exhorts, and comforts}, to the ruin of
the hearers {that is what BBFers are doing today in deceiving
listeners that they can escape the falling away and final
tribulation, building false hopes and destroyed the proper faith of
some}.  Be diligent to present yourself approved to God {for
more important that approval from the academic or
fundamentalists world}; a worker who does not need to be
ashamed {go to work on the One Bible of one Itself so you do
not shame the total priesthood of believers, past and present
and future}, rightly dividing  the word of truth {get some descent
hermeneutics from the Bible Itself}. But shun profane and idle
babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.  And their
message will spread like cancer  {The secret rapture and the
two Bibles divided have already spread since 1830 like cancer in
the body of Christ, first in the Plymouth Brethren, then the
Congregationalists and Presbyterians, and now in the SBC with
the takeover by the fundamentalists} .  Hymenaeus and Philetus
are of this sort, who have strayed concerning the truth {there
just is no other way to put it except that BBFers in their
eschatology and hermeneutics have strayed from the truth, and
while there are many vessels in a house, some good and some
not so good, there is hope for them as long as they keep coming
to the Bible with a good attitude}, saying that the resurrection is
already past, and they overthrow the faith of some.”  (II Timothy
Why in the world they do not choke on the words “literal” and
“conservative” that come out of their mouths so often today in the
new BBFers literature online and from the new SBC is beyond
understanding.  How in the world can any conservative Christians on
Bible, first of all coming to the Bible with preconceived words and
notions like rapture, millennium, and dispensation to force their
academic theologies on the Bible, then try to force on a once very
conservative SBC their bad hermeneutics of two divided Bibles by
political control.  {It is not denied that they have taken control with
their Summit and 10 year plan to politically and with dirty tricks {I
wonder if Karl Rowe learned from them or vice versa} elect
Presidents and replace members of Boards, while also destroying
the reputations of careers of good and real conservative Southern
Baptists.  That is certainly not silver and gold in the house of God,
leaving room for whether they are at the bottom of the totem pole
with wood or clay; and while being far from “honor”, even SBC
history, much less the history of heaven, will declare their leaders to
be of “some for dishonor”.
2-4:  With that introduction of “honor” and “dishonor”, we must
wrap up the exegetical words of II Timothy 2:14-16, so we can
also quickly do the same for II Thessalonians 2:1-12.
1.  First on the “honor” and “dishonor” of the key leaders that
destroyed in 1979 the soul and spirit of the SBC in favor of some
theoretical Messianic law, and while this is not known in may local
churches of the SBC like it is not know of these key leaders Summit
and 10 year plan to takeover, some of us do know that in a meeting
after the 1970 Convention in New Orleans these same leaders were
given certificates of false honor from the top new brass.  We must
just wonder how much honor you will receive in your first meetings
with Jesus and Paul for all the souls you have lost, all the careers
and reputations you have destroyed, and all the damage you have
done to both sound doctrine and sound hermeneutics.
2.  Have you considered the solid foundation of God in your false
efforts at fundamentals and literalism (2:19), a foundation that still
stands in spite of your warfare and takeover, a foundation that has a
seal up in heaven and for eternity that you can not mess with:  (1)
The Lord knows how to pick out His own from fundamentalists,
moderates, conservatives, you will have no vote there and no
political influence or maneuvering; and (2) Having known that
“everyone who names the name of Christ must depart from inquiry,
do you not consider all those slaughters of careers and reputation of
fellow brethren for which a certificate from the top brass of the
Convention can not compensation, the applause of fellow man will
dim, and except as wood and clay will not be in the annals of
heavens history.
3.  The only way to be a vessel for honor in the kingdom of God and
Christ is to cleanse yourself of all that dishonor of reputation and
career killing (2:21), sanctification and usefulness by our Master
Teacher is still possible for some of you who have not already
shuffled off this coil.  You can change your preparation for good
4.  Pursue righteousness, love, and peace with ALL those that call
upon the Lord in sincerity and truth (2:22).
5.  Get off your bandwagons of superficial superiority, avoiding
foolish and ignorant disputes which just keep on and keep on
generating strife in the SBC and the church (2:23).
6.  Any true servant of the Lord should avoid all this quarrelling, be
gentle to both moderates and fundamentalists; look at your non-
academic credentials to teach, and be patient to let God and Christ
usher in the kingdom on the new earth in their time zone.
2-5:  Finally the best stuff:  the second coming of the Lord Jesus
Christ and our gathering to meet the Lord in the air (II
Thessalonians 2:1-12)  This is the only real equivalent of what
fundamentalists try to describe in a hypothetical and secret
rapture, and like throughout the whole Bible, old and new
testaments, is consistent described in the literal words of “the
one day of the LORD and Lord”.
NOTE:  You know what many of us have heard and are still
hearing from the BBFers is “if we can’t have the top churches,
and top recognition, and the best academic and Bible
qualifications, then you are not going to have them in the SBC.
Would it not be plausible to consider that the Bible Baptist
Fundamentalists along with academic honor just wanted the
largest churches, the biggest salaries, and the best theological
teaching posts.  It must be considered!

NOTE:  This 2-5 section is also the 5-1 section of the next
session, the first section of the next session on the real second
coming session, primarily from II Thessalonians 2:1-12, and
under the title of “Wood and Clay in the House of God, the Lie.
