4.  Peter Pops the Bubble.

The secular news and global scientists are also beginning to see changes in
the earth and climate similar to that spoken by the Apostle Paul in Romans 8:
22 of how "the whole Creation groans like with birth pangs". Learn more
about the END and the sequence of history of the last days from the Prophet
Joel and as quoted by the Apostle Peter.  {Ref:  http://www.
biblecombibleman.com/ joel.ppt}  Christians and other church members who
ignore their Bibles, or “twist {or wrest in the KJV} the Scriptures to their own
destruction”  (II Peter 3:16), still fail to understand how the Bible is self-
interpretative.  Even as a picture is worth a thousand words, so examples
from PowerPoint slides are worth more than thousands, {Ref:  http://www.

Most people live in a shell or bubble of fiction and self-denial, especially on
the realities of God; the spiritual realities of God being all that really matters
now and in the long run.  {See SunGrist blog on
God's good figs versus
Gods bad figs of Jeremiah 24.}  The world is glad to encourage and live off
that bubble of fiction as it is profitable money-wise for them to have a
community that needs a new car, a new home, boat and others things that
have to be bought; the prime motivations, as we are bombarded hourly and
daily with ads for buying is conformity to our neighbors.  This is unregenerate
or ungodly human nature as it always has been since the sin of rebellion
against God and godliness entered the blood stream of the human race
through Adam and Eve’s disobedience to specific commands from God.
Jesus taught Peter eternal and immutably realities, and the great fisherman
took those values and ran with them in a very practical and pragmatic
manner.  Yet as you read the two little epistles of Peter, I and II Peter, there
is also an eloquence of rhetoric and homespun almost poetry of expression
that Peter acquired from somewhere.  How much of it came from the Holy
Spirit working in His life, the teachings of Jesus, or just the inborn and trained
style of Peter, we can not tell; but we can in spite of the expressions of the
same truth about godliness and ungodliness as the Apostle Paul, immediately
we recognize some difference in the more down to earth, yet we are warned
in the Bible, not only to hold fast to the sound doctrine of the Bible, but also
whether it is from Peter, Paul, another Apostle or Prophet to also “hold fast
to the pattern of sound words” (II Timothy 1:13).  What we notice is that
once we have been raised on the 17 letters of Paul, 14 he wrote through the
Holy Spirit and 3 he sponsored and all his quotes from the Old Testament
Prophets, still beyond that as read the epistles of Peter they expand our
vocabulary of sound patterns.
Peter reminds us, as a basis for understanding godliness, ungodliness, and
the necessity for holiness of God in light of the Day of the LORD and Lord,
where all Scriptures come from:  Old Testament Prophets and Apostles and
specifically mentions Paul and how many in protection of their bubbles of
unreality “wrest the Scriptures to their own destruction”.  (II Peter 3:16).
Even Bible Baptist Fundamentalists must see this difference in style, in spite
of their  paronia of a fictitious literalism while adding by way of isogesis
{forcing meaning on the Bible instead of the exegesis of reading meaning out
of the Bible} into the Bible such non-biblical words of rapture, millennium, and
dispensations--which incidentally is a paranoia of self denial, as maintained
by Henry Steele Commager that allowed them to crucify thousands of
Christian brothers as they took over the SBC.

4-1:  Let us nail down some clear teachings up front from Peter on
these matters of realities and Bible spirituality:  godliness,
ungodliness, standards of the Scriptures as from God and therefore
authoritative, and the Day of the Lord as a reality that can not be
ignored with its demands on holiness, and bubble buster on the
fictions of life whereby most people “eat, drink, marry, and are given in
marriage”, like in the days of Noah, as it these spiritual and eternal
realities are fictions that do not matter.
What use to be a relaxing Saturday morning of classical music on a station
owned by Dallas, has been turned into stressful discussions with motivations
of fear for the future and retirement on “Money Matters”.  What you really
hear is MONEY MATTERS MOST, for that is the way of Dallas and the way
of the world, as it has always been.  One of the reasons that Americans
continue to live in a bubble of “pride of life” and ungodliness, particularly in
Texas where the gospel of wealth and corollary of success dominates, is
that shell, encouraged and promoted by Satan, the prince of the power of he
air...that shell that there is in Texas and America no difference between the
world and godliness; and subtly they have tried to correlate money and
wealth with godliness, even as was the same with the rich young ruler who
met Jesus, live a moral life and could not moderate properly how his money
1.  Peter POPS the unrealistic bubble on the source and authority of
Scripture.  {See the All Scripture approach and movement from Paul in other
Bible Scriptures, and on a page of www.biblecombibleman.com.}
2.  Peter POS the common bubble of humanity that there are many
interpretations of the Bible “so why mess with it”!  If with a typo, we just
wrote Pete, the world would think more of Pete Sampras the tennis player
than of the Apostle Peter, which shows where the “head” of the world is and
therefore the heart.  As Jesus taught, “Where your head is {really the exact
Bible words are treasure instead of head, but the meaning is the same},
there will your heart {or focus  of life and living} be also.”  (Matthew 6:21)
“knowing this first {it must be up-front before godliness and godly
conduct}, that no prophesy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,
for prophesy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God
spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (II Peter 1:20,21)
3.  Pete POPS the eschatological bubble of strange doctrines and strange
patterns of words with reminders of the consistent theme always throughout
the Bible of the Day of the Lord with demands for holiness and holy living.
4.  Pete POPS the bubble of the extent of godliness demanded of Christians
in the church.
“For if these things are yours {the list of holy conduct and godliness
mention in the previous verses of II Peter 1:5-7} and abound, you will
neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus
Christ.”  (II Peter 1:8)
5.  Peter pops the bubble of Pentecosts that speaking in unknown tongues is
evidence of the filling of the Spirit of God; no, the evidence is in holy conduct
and godliness in the daily life inside and outside the church building. 15
minutes on Sunday can never take the place of “God Being My Helper”
through the Holy Spirit as Ralph Herring wrote years ago. The purpose of the
Holy Spirit coming on any people, according to Jesus (Acts 1:8), is to make
witnesses to Jesus unto the end of the earth, and the evidence of that power
is going outside the church to bear witness to Jesus everywhere.
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;
and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”  (Acts 1:8)
The “other tongues” (Acts 2:4) heard by Jews from all over the world were
real languages, and the disciples of Jesus were “filled with the Spirit” in order
to communicate to those Jews a knowledge of Jesus in their own known

4-2:  Which side are you on, that of God the Father or “of the world”?
They are clearly two different sides, and you can not straddle both
expecting to also receive the good benefits of judgment and the Day of
the Lord.  Step by step, Peter pops bubbles of unreality to get
godliness among those of the world and godliness among those of the
dispersed church.
1.  Jesus, Peter, Paul, and all writers of the Bible strive to clarify to humanity
that you can not have the world and godliness at the same time.  Just the
fact that Satan, his fallen angels, and the wicked alone are those who run the
world dictates an encouragement of ungodliness and a lack of godliness.
2.  God is holy and God demands holiness for His own people and children
of faith.

4-3:  Peter, or at least the Holy Spirit through Peter, not only pops the
human bubble or bubbles of unreality but also provides motivation for
godliness, the words of Peter are “what manner of persons ought you
to be in holy conduct and godliness”  (II Peter 3:11).
What changes everything is when any human being, somehow acquires an
emotional and vivid mental image of the ultimate reality of the “Day of the
Lord”.  Many Old Testament Prophets, like Isaiah, Zechariah, and Joel wrote
before Scriptures before the Scriptures from Peter and Paul about this single
one great and terminal “Day of the LORD and Lord”; Jesus shortly before
Peter wrote scriptures, taught Peter and the other Apostles about the Day of
the Lord and the LORD--we are grateful that these Apostles wrote
Scriptures recording what Jesus taught like in Matthew 24 and Mark 13 on
the Day of the Lord; and after Peter was Paul, as he wrote 14 New
Testament letters of Scripture and sponsored 3 more through Mark and Dr.
NOTE:  What keeps you from hearing from your churches and
denominations today about this “great and notable day of the Lord”,
as Joel called it and Peter quoted it on the first day of Pentecost after
the Ascension, is also explained by Peter as he pops your even larger
bubbles of unreality that many of your church leaders are “false
teachers” like the “false prophets” of the Old Testament.  Never forget
that every official prophet, every Jewish denominational and state and
religious sponsored prophet during the final days of Judah was a false
prophet according to the word of God Scriptures from Jeremiah, only
one single Prophet was a true Prophet of God with true words and
Scriptures from God, and that was the Prophet Jeremiah.
“But there were also false prophets among the people {the people of
God of “good figs and bad figs”}, even as there will be false teachers
who will secretly bring in destructive heresies...”  (II Peter 2:1)

4-4:  Don’t be deceived by your respected religious leaders failures to
speak to you about the “Day of the Lord”, and in that “sound pattern
of words” (II Timothy 1:13) of the biblical consistent summary of last
things with those words of the Day of the Lord, normally most times in
Old and New Testament scripture where you find the words “day of the
LORD” of Day of the Lord, you will know it is the same terminal day
because the sun and the moon stop giving off light.
1.  Such a well known, but often distorted New Testament Scripture, comes
from the Prophet Joel and from the Apostle Peter who quoted Joel on the
“Day of the Lord” on his first recorded sermon in the book of Acts and on the
first day of Pentecost after the Ascension.  Peter and Joel, in writing
Scriptures through the Holy Spirit as “holy men of God spoke as they were
moved by the Spirit of God”  (II Peter 1:20,21)  Peter and Joel agree in
calling this single and terminal day of the Lord as that “great and notable day
of the LORD” (Acts 2:14-21)
2.  There is neither time nor space {or the patience of the reader} to quote all
of Peter’s quote and explanation of--and hopefully you read, or read again
for yourself all of Acts 2:14-21; but quickly consider how your respected
religious teachers today with false teachings are able to deceive you about
the when and how of the Day of the LORD and Lord is because they deceive
you on something as fundamental as the “last days”.  According to Peter as
in the Scripture of Acts, he quoted from the Scriptures through the Prophet
Joel, that first day of Pentecost after the Ascension was the beginning of the
last days (Acts 2:15-17):
(a).  to be terminated with “the great and awesome day of the LORD”;
(b).  to be immediately preceded {“before the coming of that great and
awesome day”} by “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into
blood” (Acts 2:20); and
(c).  and before that will be the  “beginning of sorrows” spoken by Jesus in
the Matthew 24 and Mark 13 Scriptures from the Apostles, things that
started happening at the beginning of the last days and keep going with more
intensity until the END, “wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth
beneath; blood and fire and vapor of smoke” (Acts 2:19).
NOTE:  We must stand in awe not only of what is going to happen in
heaven and earth to lead to the END and the Second Coming of Christ,
but also of how false but respected and popular teachers of religion
can so distort something as simple and straightforward as from Joel
and Peter.  We must believe that they want notoriety, popularity, and
the status and profit of propagating something that no one else is able
to get out of their proper Bible reading and understanding.

4-5:  However the prime theme of Peter, at least in II Peter, is godliness
and the opposite of ungodliness; and this survey of coming attractions
from the total second little epistle of Peter, II Peter, is background to
allow us in conclusion of this message and in the coming series to
stress, explain, and motivate on godliness, what “the manner of
persons you ought to be in holy conduct and godliness”  (II Peter 3:11).
1.  “BE HOLY IN CONDUCT AND GODLINESS”--the conduct in outward
behavior and godliness in an inward state.
GOD”--did you realize the godly Christians can hasten when that DAY
comes!  We will discuss that in the coming series on “Peter and Paul”.
Yesterday national and international news interviewed victims of the Chile
earthquake and continuing aftershocks, and a few days before that victims
and experts on the LA earthquake.  In both cases they are looking and
waiting for the “big” or “great one”; when all humanity the world over should
be looking for and hastening of the coming of the great day of the Lord,
immediately after the largest earthquake ever--”And there were noises and
thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty
and great earthquake as had not occurred since man was on the earth.”
(Revelation 16:18)

NOTE:  Yes, you should be looking for the big one; but the one at the
END, at the day of the LORD and Lord, at the Second Coming.  You
should also be making preparation in all holy conduct and godliness;
for as in the days of Noah, when people went about their daily routines
as if these realities of God and from God did not exist, so are people
engaged in routines today of life and living as if there is no God, no
day of the Lord, and no END just like many building owners in LA know
their structures are not able to withstand a big one, yet make no
preparation.  Those are bubbles of unreality, in this life and living, and
especially about life and living for eternity!
