When "Den of Thieves" was placed on this website April of 2008, it was not meant to be prophetic of the national greed shortly to be revealed in the American economy; but such is the nature of Jeremiah and prophesy in Jeremiah. Even as "house" in Jeremiah 7:11 was more like national buildings of government, business, homes, and worship, even so the American "Den" today of thieves, as greed has been revealed in big business, government, churches and the American church, and by average home buyers who purchased more than they needed or could afford, must be considered as an extremely large and national Den of Thieves. It must also be considered, unfortunately, that like Judah, Jerusalem and the Temple of God, America is now too corrupt for calamity recovery. However prophetically we were also warned thousands of years ago about the "state of the union" of any nation that "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people". Have you forgotten that "greed" is a sin, and that "those who desire to be rich fall into the snare of the devil"? Looking back now, we should not be so surprised that this prophetic predictions of Jeremiah came true for this nation and now; for many reasons, primarily because the Prophet Jeremiah was appointed by God to be a prophet to the nations. {See "Bible Studies in Jeremiah and Prophesy".} Also on "Bible Studies in Jeremiah and Prophesy", can truth disappear in our national prophesies and from our nation as it did among the nation of God's people during the time of Jeremiah. "This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the LORD their God nor receive correction {after all correction is not too popular in America right now and in the pulpits of America, or in church government}. Truth has perished {is the perishing of truth right behind the intolerance toward the sound doctrines of correction} and has been cut off from their mouth."
