Prophets |
“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7 KJV) "And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophesy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophesy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." (II Peter 1:19-21 NJKV) "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." (II Timothy 3:16,17 NJKV) |
1. Amos and Jonah in total context of the prophets and apostles. "...consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation, as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people wrest to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures." (II Peter 3:15,16) 2. Isaiah Outlines the Old Testament Part 1. NOTE: Did you know that as well as being a Prophet of God, and to the nations, Isaiah was the official historian of the King and writing historical books of the Old Testament? 3. Isaiah Outlines the Old Testament Part 2. 4. Daniel, the book of, and In Sweeps: The Predictive Historian. NOTE: It will help you not "wrest the Scriptures {out of total Bible context} to your own destruction", if you comprehend two methods God used in the writing of Scriptures: (1) as in Daniel, Matthew 24, and the book of Revelation on eschatology {last things}, God wrote in sweeps, staring at different historical points in time and going all the way to the END, then repeating in another sweep only with a different starting point; and (2) God created a structure to the Bible, like a backbone, to make it self-interpretive with quotes from the Old Testament Prophets in the New Testament and with the proper interpretation of those quotes by the Apostles and Jesus. 5. Harmony of Amos and Jeremiah with extreme Calamities. 6. And primarily during this Christmas season, 2013, as always you will want to consider the primary Prophet and subject of the total Bible, that of "The Prophet Messiah", first referenced in the Bible in Deutoronomy by the Prophet Moses. Messiah is Hebrew and Christ is Greek, both refer, of course, to our Lord Jesus Christ. This season as never before may we honor His name, the name about all names at which "every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that He is Lord to the glory of God the Father", the only name by which we must be saved. |
Along with the 5 Prophets above, you will find in this PDF copy of "The Writing Prophets" all 19 writing Prophets of the Old Testament. And it is available free for download just like those chapters above; however since it is over 300 pages, it will be a challenge, perhaps too much, for broadband iphones, pads, tablets, and smartphones. You may have to use your computer at home or work! |
